A message from the Principal
Our school is an inclusive, friendly school where children can learn in a safe and supportive environment. The school is located in a picturesque setting at the foot of the MacDonnell Ranges in spacious grounds. As a well established school we have excellent resources, quality staff and very supportive parents as our most recent parent perception survey demonstrates.
There are approximately 360 students at Bradshaw. Fifty percent of our students are aboriginal, whilst others come from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds. Bradshaw Preschool located next door to the school has approximately 80 students and offers flexible preschool hours to suit families.
The school has nine classroom teachers, a fulltime teacher librarian and a specialist Physical Education teacher as well as a range of specialist and support staff to cater for children’s learning needs. In 2009 the teaching and learning of reading was a very strong focus across the school with considerable resources purchased to support classroom learning programs. In 2010 Maths was our teaching and learning focus supported again by substantial resource purchasing.
Irrkerlantye, a unit offering a wrap around service for identified indigenous students to access school has been running very successfully at the school for four years.
We welcome parent involvement in our school. Please do not hesitate to join in class and school activities. We believe that the partnership between teachers, parents and carers underpins children’s success at school so please take advantage of the many opportunities for involvement during the year.
If you have questions, please contact us. You will find our staff open and approachable. We share the view that the only silly question is the one that is not asked!
